CALIFORNIA'S GOLDEN HERITAGE PROGRAM |
||
| What were the first people of California like? What
caused the California gold rush? Was Sacramento really California's first capital? How did
California play a role in the Transcontinental Railroad? The answers to these questions
and many more will be shared with you when you take part in the new multi-year event
sponsored by the Placer Pacers of Auburn, California. Those interested in participating in this special event must complete 12 sanctioned AVA/IVV walks from a list of California sites which are in, through or include many of California's parks, forests, visitor centers or museums as part of the walk. Four (4) separate walks must be completed in each of the three areas: 4 Northern, 4 Central, and 4 Southern California. This is a total of 12 walks. This special event is scheduled to run through December 2007 unless extended at some future date. Upon enrolling in the event, the participant will receive a special event book and a list of eligible sites in each of the three areas. The AVA event stamp and passport stamp at the site will be placed in the special event book. Updated information will be available at this site as the event progresses. A list of new scheduled events will be posted in The Wanderer as they become available. This program ends December 31, 2007. No new
books will be sold after that date, but you may continue to send books in until supplies
are exhausted.
